I’m pleased to report that Booklist, the American Library Association journal, has given The Big Switch a starred review, indicating “a work judged by a reviewer to be outstanding in its genre.” The review, by David Siegfried, begins: “Carr created a huge rift in the business community with his first book, Does IT Matter? (2004), challenging the conventional wisdom that information technology provides a competitive advantage in business. Here he examines the future of the Internet, which he says may one day completely replace the desktop PC as all computing services are delivered over the Net as a utility, the Internet morphing into one giant ‘World Wide Computer’ …”
Hey Nick –
Great review. I read your first book and much of your thinking echoes loudly in the vision of our company (6fusion). However, I live in the Cayman Islands and usually have to wait until I travel to the US or Canada to purchase such things. I really want a copy of your book. How about shipping me a copy? Or better yet, why don’t you hand deliver it? Do you dive or fish? :)
I do fish, and I’m willing to take a dive when necessary. So pay my way, and I’ll be there – with book.
Hey Nick – what ever happened to sending review copies to fellow bloggers?????
Congratulations, Nick. And thanks for writing such a great book.
Huge congratulations Mr. Carr. The main thrust of your book is prophetic and indeed offers a major wake up call for anyone who is not completely up-to-snuff.
You have managed to meld together historical context and future possibilities in such a way as to enlighten and illuminate us about both. The curtain has been pulled aside for us to glimpse scenarios that offer both awe and anxiety.
Alan
